Practice Meet Events

Practice Meet March 7 , 2009 at Buena High School
Schedule of Midget Events

Our practice track meet gives all of the athletes and volunteers for the club a chance to work out any kinks and see what it's like to run a track meet in a competitive environment. Not all events will be available at the practice meet, but we do get the chance to race and feel the heat of competition. You can choose only 2 running events, or 2 running events and our field event. Here is the list of events that Midgets get to choose to participate in at the practice meet.
Running Events:
  • 4x100 meter relay
  • 800 meter run
  • 200 meter run
  • 80 meter hurdles*

You can only participate in the hurdles if you have run the event in a track meet before and practiced hurdels between now and the practice meet

Field Event:

  • Shot Put (6 pound shot)

I want all Midgets to focus on having a great time, show amazing sportsmanship (let's cheer louder and be the most encouraging team at the track) and work your hardest during your races. This brings me to our "Quote of the Week"

"Victory isn't defined by wins or losses. It is defined by effort. If you can truthfully say, 'I did the best I could, I gave everything I had,' then you're a winner." ---Wolfgang Schadler

Great to Meet You - Now Let's Dig In

Hello Tigres! It was great getting together for the first time. Now it's time for us to get into gear and start working. One of the things that I will provide at this location is resources to keep you healthy, give new ideas and let you dig a little deeper on your own. Some of you will experience some sore muscles, or aches and pains as we begin to train harder. So, how do you know what's going on with your body? Is there a real problem, or are you just sore? I found a great link on Runners World Online. It is an interactive system that will help you do a little more investigating. Click this link and check it out for yourself:

Welcome Tigres Midget Families!

Welcome to all athletes and families of the 2009 Tigres Midget Team

I am very excited to get our season off to a running start, so get ready because the 2009 Tigres Track season has begun.

Practices at Arroyo Verde Park
Practices will be on Mondays, Wednesdays and Thursdays
From 3:59 pm - 5:14 pm
  • Arroyo Verde park is a great place for us to get to know each other and begin our running. Be ready to practice, make new friends and see old ones, and have lots of fun.
  • Always wear running shoes to practice!
  • The park gets cool in the afternoon, so please come to practice with a sweatshirt or jacket, and sweatpants.
  • The park has drinking fountains, but having a water container with you makes taking quick drinks easier and gives you a way to know how much you drink. Staying hydrated is very important! Dehydration can contribute to muscle soreness and can cause headaches, as well as many other problems. We will be talking about proper hydration a lot because it is so important to athletes, so bring your water and make your coaches smile.
